PREVENTATIVE CARE
A good preventative care is essential to your horse's health. Preventative care consists of annual wellness and dental exams, vaccinations, and deworming.
PRE- PURCHASE EXAM
Buying a horse can be a large investment of time, money, and emotion. Most horses are not sold with a money back guarantee and this is why a purchase examination is so important.
REPRODUCTION
South sound offers specialized and routine services for both mare and stallion. Our reproductive services include readying your broodmare for breeding by performing pre-breeding exams that include uterine ultrasound, cultures, and biopsies, vaginal exams, and a complete historical workup. We specialize in fresh cooled semen for artificial inseminations.
LAMENESS
Lameness and loss of performance ability are some of the most common and frustrating problems horse owner encounter. Our goal is to return your horse to soundness. Having an accurate diagnosis is important in developing an appropriate plan to recovery. We offer lameness exams and advanced diagnostics including digital radiography and digital ultrasound.
DENTAL CARE
Regular dental maintenance is critical to your horse's health. Horses can suffer from many dental disorders that impact feed utilization, riding performance, and general well- being. We perform dental exams to eliminate sharp points that can cause discomfort and decrease performance. We use sedation and motorized equipment for a safe, gentle, and low stress procedure.
DIGITIAL IMAGING
The clinics advanced diagnostic imaging includes portable x-rays that can be seen immediately on a laptop for quick diagnosis.

Our advanced digital ultrasound allows us to thoroughly analyze soft tissue injuries as well as reproductive and abdominal evaluations.

Our video endoscopy allows evaluation of upper airways, sinuses, esophagus, urethra, bladder, and stomach for ulcers, tumors, and strictures.

OUR CLINIC
South Sound Equine Practice is focused on providing high quality veterinary service to equine patients. We aim to build strong doctor-client relationships to allow for the best care and treatment of our patients and peace of mind for their owners. Services include, but are not limited to, routine preventative and wellness care (including power dentistry, lameness and pre-purchase exams, reproductive services and neonatal care.
MEET
DR. CLARK
Dr. Michael Clark
VETERINARIAN
Dr. Clark graduated from WSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After, he then completed a year internship with Humphrey and Giacopuzzi Equine Hospital in Southern California. He remained with the hospital as an associate veterinarian for 3 years. He spent time in Virginia at an equine and food animal based practice before returning to the PNW where he has been since 2016. He enjoys all aspects of equine practice, including reproduction, lameness and general wellness and preventative care.
He met Alissa while in California and they were married in 2012. In 2016, their daughter, Emersyn was born. When not working, Dr. Clark enjoys camping and traveling with the family, in addition to the many activities, such as dance team, that Emersyn is involved in.
